ABOUT CRITICARE SERVICES

CritiCare is a family owned, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania licensed and Medicare certified skilled Home Health agency. The skilled license means that CritiCare can provide a full range of services from companion care to hi-tech registered nursing to you or your loved one, adult or child, at home or at school or wherever the client may be.

WRITTEN PLAN OF CARE

Receiving care from a licensed skilled agency means that all skilled services are based on an individualized and written Plan of Care prepared, monitored and updated at least every two months by a registered nurse in consultation with the client's physician. All home health aides as well are carefully screened and supervised by registered nurses which also is not required in agencies not licensed to provide skilled services.

CritiCare was started by two critical care nurses in 1982 and began its existence as a critical care nurse staffing agency which over the years had built a reputation of excellence by providing the highest quality of critical care nursing services to hospitals, nursing homes, schools and community agencies throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania. Adding Home Health services has only broadened its scope of services but has not in any way reduced their quality. And its charge rates still remain quite competitive even compared with those in unskilled agencies.

THE CRITICARE DIFFERENCE

What separates CritiCare from many of its competitors is that CritiCare still prides itself on being a small boutique agency which fosters and maintains a personal relationship with each of its clients, unlike many other agencies which have simply become large impersonal homecare staffing machine franchises. And in terms of hiring, on orders from its management, CritiCare will not hire any aide or nurse unless the staff feels comfortable that the person would be acceptable to care for their own mother or loved one. The following recent actual incident will help you understand what we like to call the CritiCare difference:
One of Criticare's aides was taking care of an Alzheimer's patient. She was walking him to the car to take him to a doctor's appointment when out of nowhere came this vicious dog…. barking, hair up, teeth showing and charging them ready to bite. To protect her client, Krissy, the aide, shielded him with her body and took two bites in the leg, and one in the hip. Her client did not have a scratch on him.
Not all aides or nurses can be like Krissy, but all of CritiCare caregivers, at a minimum, must be kind, competent, caring and able to foster trust and continuity in the lives of the very special people they serve.
